Policy on Contagious Diseases

COVID-19 has been with us for four years now, and other viral diseases like RSV and this year’s flu variant are always with us.  Many of us learned during the peak periods of COVID-19 that precaution is important in protecting the health of our loved ones as well as people whom we are coming into contact with.  This is our practice’s contagious disease prevention policy at Cristina Panaccione and Associates Counseling.

At CPA Counseling, we strive to provide a safe environment for all. We ask that everyone be aware that many clinicians and patients at this practice may have a compromised immune system or are elderly, pregnant, or have young children. If you or someone you have contact with shows signs of a contagious illness, please do your part in containing these viruses.

Incubation

If you are in an incubation period of being sick, please do not come to the office. If you are not ill, wash your hands frequently with warm water and soap for 20 seconds. Cover all coughs and sneezes. The best practice is to use your elbow.

Telehealth

We offer telehealth as an alternative to in-office sessions. We are happy to utilize virtual sessions when appropriate to maintain consistency of care and be available when meeting in person is unavailable.

If you are sick or in an incubation period but would like to meet virtually, please let your clinician know that you cannot attend the session in the office and would like to change the session to telehealth. We offer phone and video sessions through our HIPPA-compliant platform, VSee (VSee.com).

Aetna

Please be aware that Aetna is currently not reimbursing telehealth, however, we are happy to work out affordable arrangements to continue your treatment. If you have recurring cancellations with less than 24-hour notice due to illness and are unwilling to utilize telehealth, we will still charge you the $75 cancellation fee. Please also note that clinicians’ preferences for utilizing telehealth regularly may vary; feel free to touch base with your therapist about regular use of virtual sessions.

Thank you for your support in keeping each other well!
